MiDO Academy was established by a group of like-minded individuals aiming to address the cybersecurity skills shortage in South Africa, with a focus on helping youth become employable in the field. The academy was founded by Dale Simons, the founder of MiDO Technologies, and Anna Collard, SVP Content Strategy & Evangelist Africa at KnowBe4.
Through various discussions, Dale and Anna explored how the academy could effectively launch and engage with key stakeholders, including the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) of the UK. As a result of these efforts, MiDO Academy was selected to be part of the Africa Cyber Programme led by the FCDO. The academy was identified as a key learning provider to stimulate cyber career opportunities for underprivileged students.
Since the kickoff of the academy, we have received tremendous support from various local and global organizations, employers, and government institutions. These partnerships have been crucial in advancing our mission and contributing to our sustainable growth.
At MiDO Academy, our student success philosophy is centered on creating well-rounded, industryready professionals. This is achieved through a holistic approach that integrates technical, soft, and personal skills development, industry-driven recruitment and placement, and strategic funding opportunities. These elements are crucial in addressing the skills shortage in cybersecurity, ensuring our graduates are highly employable and prepared to meet the demands of the rapidly evolving digital economy.
